What you need

cup water

garlic

tsp turmeric powder

onion

tsp salt
tbsp oil

cup milk

green chili

tsp cumin seed

dried chili peppers
tsp red chili powder

bunch fresh coriander leaves

bean curd

cup cream

cup dal
Instructions
1: Wash the dal till water runs clear and soak for 30 minutes. Strain it and put it in the cooker. 2: Add 1 cup of water, 1 tsp salt and ½ tsp turmeric powder and cook it for 3-4 whistles. 3: Take it off the flame and let the pressure reduce gradually and open the lid. 4: Mix the dal well and add milk, cream and curd to it and mix it well. 5: Cook it on a low flame till the mixture thickens. Turn off the flame. 6: Place a small bowl with a hot piece of coal on top of the dal. Add a tablespoon of ghee and close the lid immediately. Leave it for 5-7 minutes and then take the coal out. 7: In another pan, heat 2 tbsp oil, add cumin seeds, garlic, dry red chillies and let it crackle. 8: Add the chopped onions and cook it to a golden brown color. 9: Turn off the flame and add the red chilli powder and mix it well. 10: Transfer the dal mixture to the tadka, mix it well. Check the seasoning. 11: Top it off with a tablespoon of ghee. Garnish it with coriander sprigs and serve hot with rice or roti.View original recipe
