1: Soak the moong dal in water for 2 hours. 2: Strain and blend to a fine paste without extra water. 3: Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed utensil and add the rava. Roast until aromatic and light brown. 4: To the ghee add the moong dal mixture and cook until it turns golden brown on a low flame while stirring continuously. Add the entire quantity of ghee in addition while frying the dal. 5: Switch off the flame and allow the colour to develop for 10 mins. 6: Once it has changed colour, add the sugar and water bring to a boil while stirring continuously. 7: Add the chopped nuts and cardamom powder, saffron at this stage. 8: Cook until the halwa has thickened, switch off the flame and finish with grated khoya, stir until mixed well. 9: Garnish with chopped nuts and silver leaf.
