A flavorful and fragrant fish curry from the islands of Sri Lanka, marinated with spices and cooked in a creamy curry sauce.

1: Wash the fish slices. Marinate it with turmeric powder, salt, and lemon juice and let it rest for 10 minutes. 2: Heat a tawa, add oil and sear the marinated fish to a golden brown color on both sides and set it aside. 3: In a pan, heat oil, add cinnamon, cumin, mustard, curry leaves, and green chillies. Let it crackle. 4: Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. 5: Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a few seconds. 6: Add the tomatoes and cook until mashed. 7: Add turmeric powder, a little water, and mix. 8: Add coconut milk, fresh cream, and tamarind paste. Mix well. 9: Season the gravy with salt and pepper and let it simmer. 10: Add the fish to the gravy, cover the pan and let it simmer for a few more minutes. 11: Transfer to a bowl. Garnish with coriander sprigs and fried curry leaves. Serve hot.
