1: Soak the figs in water for 15 minutes. 2: Grind the figs and dates together into a slightly coarse paste. 3: Place a pan on the stove. Over medium heat, add poppy seeds and toast for 1-2 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside. 4: Heat ghee in the same pan and add the chopped nuts and saffron. Toast on medium heat until it turns aromatic and just starts to turn golden. 5: Remove it into a bowl and let it cool. 6: Add ghee into the same pan and add the dates and fig paste. Saute on medium heat until the moisture has evaporated, and it leaves the sides of the pan without sticking. 7: Remove from the pan and allow to cool lightly, until you can handle it comfortably. Take 2 tbsp of this mixture and add it to the nuts mixture. Mix it to combine evenly. 8: Roll out the fig mixture lightly using your fingers or a rolling pin. 9: Add the nuts mixture in the centre and roll it into a log, pinching the edges slightly to seal it. 10: Slightly wet your hands and give the log a final roll. Then coat it with the poppy seeds. 11: Refrigerate for 30 mins. 12: Slice it and serve! You can store it at room temperature for a few days, or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
