1: Wash and soak the dal/paruppu for 20 minutes. 2: Boil the dal till it is completely cooked and mash it. 3: If using a pressure cooker, let it cook for 4 whistles. 4: Heat a pot, add oil, and let it heat up. 5: Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. 6: Add urad dal, dry red chillies, and curry leaves and let them crackle. 7: Add garlic and shallots and sauté for a minute. 8: Add the boiled dal, mix it well, bring it to a boil, add ghee, and take it off the flame. 9: Serve it hot with rice, potato chips, pickle, and enjoy.
